Does Emotional Intelligence Predict Job Performance?
Over the past one hundred years, employers have measured many different traits or characteristics of job applicants in order to predict future performance on the job. These include cognitive ability, personality factors, past behaviors, knowledge, skills, and job-related competencies. Recently, however, a new category has started to grow in popularity: emotional intelligence. In this article, we take a look at what Emotional Intelligence really is and whether it is useful as a predictor of future performance.
