HR Avatar Introduces Online Proctoring   May 14, 2018, 12:13:20 PM EDT

Aldie, VA (May 14, 2018) - HR Avatar Pre-Employment Tests, a leading provider of online, simulation-based employment tests, has added online proctoring.

Every once in a while, hiring managers or recruiters ask, “How can I make sure the person taking the test at home is the same person applying for the job?”

Well now there is a cost-effective answer: Online Proctoring. HR Avatar tests take photos of the applicant while they are completing the test, to ensure the person answering the questions is the same person who shows up to the interview and in the office on day one.

How Does Online Proctoring Work?

When applicants begin the test, the test will automatically detect whether they have a camera available on the device. If so, the test taker will be requested to take a photo within the test. Then throughout the test, the test will take photos to ensure the same person is continuing the assessment.

When the test is complete, you will receive a report with the captured images and an analysis of whether the same person took the test throughout. Our engine will run an automated analysis to ensure the images are the same person.

See sample below.

What happens if a test taker does not have a camera on their device?

As the administrator, you can set whether the photos are Required or not in the Settings. If the photos are Required, the test taker will be encouraged to switch to a device that does have a camera, such as a laptop, tablet, or mobile device.

If the photos are not Required, the test taker will be allowed to continue on their device.

Will the test continue to take photos as they take the test?

Yes. As the applicant continues, the test will continue to take photos. As the administrator, you can set whether to take unannounced photos or only announced photos.

How much does it cost?

The price for online proctoring is 5 credits. So now, you will see that tests are 45 credits per test. If the applicant does not have a camera, you will not be charged the 5 additional credits. Or if you have the feature disabled, you will only be charged 40 credits per test.

What about privacy concerns with the photos?

Photos can be hidden in reports and emails by account administrators using Account Settings > Settings. Our Online Proctoring process works within our pseudonymisation and data retention processes. In both cases, all media captured from the candidate is deleted.

How do I enable the proctoring settings?

All new accounts will have the feature automatically enabled. But you can make changes on your account settings to set the default for all tests, or you can change the setting per test.
