The Advanced US English Language Assessment - Reading (CEFR) is a fast, easy way to confirm whether a candidate can read and understand US English. The test evaluates multiple levels of English utilizing text. The test starts with mid difficulty level text. As the test progresses, the text become more complex, to really hone in on the candidate's ability to understand the English language when read.
Scoring: This assessment takes a unique approach to scoring. Each candidate will start at a mid difficulty level (B1). At the end of each level, the test will determine if the candidate should move on to the next. If the candidate does not do well on a level, they will not complete the remainder of the assessment. The score will then show the highest level they were able to complete with a passing score as well as provide you with a breakdown of their score at each level prior. We modeled our scoring text and level identifiers off of the CEFR allowing for universal understanding and use.
This test is fully mobile ready and operates on most modern mobile devices. Questions are individually randomized to ensure coverage of all topics while preventing cheating.
The test has a total of 4 Levels:
- Intermediate (B1)
- Upper Intermediate (B2)
- Advanced (C1)
- Proficient (C2)
Note that while the Advanced US English Language Assessment - Reading (CEFR) is a useful and efficient instrument for confirming a base level of skill or knowledge about this important topic, it is not intended to pinpoint the exact level of candidate or skill. We recommend that skills tests, like this one, be used in parallel with other measurements, such as cognitive ability, job fit, and behavioral history. Each type of test provides unique and valuable pieces of information you can use when evaluating potential job performance.
