About the test
The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Administration (Core) test is designed to measure the knowledge and skills of job candidates and employees necessary to support Oracle Cloud Infrastructure cloud-based implementations and operations, covering areas such as Identity and Access Management (IAM), Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) Configuration and Management, Compute Instance Lifecycle Management, Storage Services (Block Volume, Object Storage, and File Storage), Monitoring, Logging, and Alarms, and Security Configuration and Key Management. The test evaluates practical skills through a variety of question formats, including Essay Composition, Multiple Choice, and Multiple Correct Answer questions, with some questions featuring individual time limits to help prevent cheating and improve predictive performance, and one or more questions scored using artificial intelligence. Questions are drawn from a large pool to further ensure test integrity and reduce the risk of cheating, making this assessment a robust and reliable tool for evaluating OCI administration competency.
The specific attributes measured include:
Knowledge and Skills
- Compute Instance Lifecycle Management
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Monitoring, Logging, and Alarms
- Security Configuration and Key Management
- Storage Services (Block Volume, Object Storage, and File Storage)
- Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) Configuration and Management

Following completion, the test produces a Candidate Selection Report that includes an overall score and detailed scores for each attribute.
The Candidate Selection Report also provides expert interview questions that help you probe critical or low-scoring areas, along with a guide for noting your evaluation of the candidate's responses. Consistent use of an interview guide is an important part of gaining better candidate insights and making better hiring decisions.
Note that while the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Administration (Core) assessment is a useful and efficient instrument for confirming a base level of skill or knowledge about this important topic, it is not intended to pinpoint the exact level of candidate or skill. We recommend that skills tests, like this one, be used in parallel with other measurements, such as cognitive ability, job fit, and behavioral history. Each different type of test provides a valuable piece of information you can use when evaluating potential job performance.
