About the test
The Unity Development (Short) test is designed to assess candidates' and employees' knowledge of Unity game development, evaluating their understanding of core concepts such as the Unity interface, GameObjects, components, prefabs, the Transform component, C# scripting with MonoBehaviour, physics using Rigidbody and Collider components, scene management, asset pipeline, the Camera component, the Unity UI system, audio implementation, Tags and Layers, and building and deploying projects to target platforms. The test measures skill across six key areas: GameObjects, Components, and the Unity Interface; C# Scripting and MonoBehaviour; Physics: Rigidbody and Colliders; Scene Management and Build Deployment; Unity UI System; and Assets, Camera, and Audio. Questions are presented in Essay Composition, Multiple Choice, and Multiple Correct Answer formats, with some questions featuring time limits to discourage cheating and improve predictive performance, and one or more questions scored using artificial intelligence. To further ensure integrity, questions are drawn from a large pool to minimize the risk of cheating.
The specific attributes measured include:
Knowledge and Skills
- C# Scripting and MonoBehaviour
- GameObjects, Components, and the Unity Interface
- Physics: Rigidbody and Colliders
- Scene Management and Build Deployment

Following completion, the test produces a Candidate Selection Report that includes an overall score and detailed scores for each attribute.
The Candidate Selection Report also provides expert interview questions that help you probe critical or low-scoring areas, along with a guide for noting your evaluation of the candidate's responses. Consistent use of an interview guide is an important part of gaining better candidate insights and making better hiring decisions.
Note that while the Unity Development (Short) assessment is a useful and efficient instrument for confirming a base level of skill or knowledge about this important topic, it is not intended to pinpoint the exact level of candidate or skill. We recommend that skills tests, like this one, be used in parallel with other measurements, such as cognitive ability, job fit, and behavioral history. Each different type of test provides a valuable piece of information you can use when evaluating potential job performance.
