About the test

The Adobe Acrobat - Usage and Concepts (Short) assessment is designed to measure the knowledge and skills of job candidates and employees in using Adobe Acrobat to view, edit, and manage high-quality PDF documents. It evaluates a broad range of competencies, including viewing and navigating PDF documents, editing text and images, creating and combining files, commenting and annotating, filling out forms and adding signatures, and protecting, saving, and exporting documents. The test also covers knowledge of Adobe Acrobat's menus, tools, panels, and terminology, as well as methods for reviewing documents through shared feedback and converting scanned pages into searchable or editable text.

Delivered in a multiple choice and multiple correct answer format, the assessment draws questions from a large pool to help prevent cheating, and includes timed questions to further ensure integrity and improve predictive performance. This skills-based test provides employers with a reliable measure of a candidate's or employee's practical proficiency with Adobe Acrobat across the full range of everyday PDF management tasks.

The specific attributes measured include:

Knowledge and Skills
  • Commenting, Annotating, and Reviewing Documents
  • Creating, Combining, and Organizing PDF Files
  • Editing Text and Images in a PDF
  • Viewing and Navigating PDF Documents

Following completion, the test produces a Candidate Selection Report that includes an overall score and detailed scores for each attribute.

The Candidate Selection Report also provides expert interview questions that help you probe critical or low-scoring areas, along with a guide for noting your evaluation of the candidate's responses. Consistent use of an interview guide is an important part of gaining better candidate insights and making better hiring decisions.

Note that while the Adobe Acrobat - Usage and Concepts (Short) assessment is a useful and efficient instrument for confirming a base level of skill or knowledge about this important topic, it is not intended to pinpoint the exact level of candidate or skill. We recommend that skills tests, like this one, be used in parallel with other measurements, such as cognitive ability, job fit, and behavioral history. Each different type of test provides a valuable piece of information you can use when evaluating potential job performance.
