The Excel 2016 - Basic skills test is a fast, easy way to confirm whether a candidate has an understanding of the basic concepts underlying Microsoft Excel 2016. The test asks questions from a bank of questions for testing security purposes. HR Avatar periodically adds new questions to this bank to prevent cheating.
The Basic version of our popular MS Excel 2016 simulation-based assessment is meant to only measure basic knowledge and skills for Excel 2016. Advanced topics are not included in this version.
This test is fully mobile ready and operates on most modern mobile devices.
Specific topics covered within the test include:
- Accessing spellcheck and thesaurus
- Applying basic cell arithmetic
- Copying formulas
- Copying, cutting and pasting data
- Creating 2D charts from data
- Creating hyperlinks
- Creating, Opening, and Saving Files
- Formatting cell appearance
- Freezing rows and columns
- Recognizing Excel-compatible file types
- Recognizing when to use a spreadsheet
The test consists of both text-based multiple choice and simulation-based performance questions, where the candidate is asked to perform tasks on a simulated MS Excel 2016 interface.
Note that while the Excel 2016 skills assessment is a useful and efficient instrument for confirming a base level of skill or knowledge about this important topic, it is not intended to pinpoint the exact level of candidate or skill. We recommend that skills tests, like this one, be used in parallel with other measurements, such as cognitive ability, job fit, and behavioral history. Each different type of test provides a valuable piece of information you can use when evaluating potential job performance.
