About the test

The Autodesk Revit test is an employment assessment designed to measure candidates' and employees' knowledge and skill in using Autodesk Revit to perform common projects and tasks. The test evaluates four core competency areas: Document Generation & Data Extraction (including Sheet Setup & View Placement, Schedule Creation & Management, and Data Export & Output), Parametric Modeling & Relationships (including Constraints & Dimensional Parametrics, Hosted & Dependent Element Relationships, and Change Propagation & Model Integrity), Use of Families (including Loading and Placing Families, Modifying Family Parameters and Types, and System Families and In-Place Families), and Visibility & Graphics (V/G) Control (including Visibility/Graphics Overrides, View Filters, and View Templates). The assessment uses a combination of Multiple Choice and Essay Composition questions to evaluate these skill areas. Questions are drawn from a large pool to help prevent cheating, and one or more questions are subject to individual time limits to further deter cheating and enhance predictive performance. Additionally, the test incorporates artificial intelligence in the scoring of one or more questions, ensuring a modern and thorough evaluation of each candidate's Autodesk Revit proficiency.

Topics covered by this test include:

Document Generation & Data Extraction
  • Sheet Setup & View Placement

Following completion, the test produces a Candidate Selection Report that includes an overall score and detailed scores for each attribute.

The Candidate Selection Report also provides expert interview questions that help you probe critical or low-scoring areas, along with a guide for noting your evaluation of the candidate's responses. Consistent use of an interview guide is an important part of gaining better candidate insights and making better hiring decisions.

Note that while the Autodesk Revit assessment is a useful and efficient instrument for confirming a base level of skill or knowledge about this important topic, it is not intended to pinpoint the exact level of candidate or skill. We recommend that skills tests, like this one, be used in parallel with other measurements, such as cognitive ability, job fit, and behavioral history. Each different type of test provides a valuable piece of information you can use when evaluating potential job performance.
